Friday 22nd January

English

In this lesson, we will introduce new vocabulary, identify word pairs and synonyms and apply the vocabulary in sentences.

In PSHE this week, you will be looking at world issues and you will be writing about what your dream or ideal world would look like.

Today’s lesson will continue on from the last lesson about stories that are special to you. In this lesson you will explore a traditional Sikh story to understand its meaning and importance to Sikhs. You will also be reflecting throughout the lesson how this story relates to you and your life.

Thursday 21st January

In this lesson, we will be starting with writing a complex sentence with a relative clause. Next, we will look at where we would be gathering evidence or information from if we were journalists writing our own newspaper reports. We will then learn how to take notes when gathering information. Lastly, we will practise how to use brackets in sentences.

Wednesday 20th January

English

In this lesson, you will recap on sentence types: compound, simple and complex. You will then recap on the definitions of the different word class categories. Following this, you will sort words into their word classes and lastly, identify word classes in different sentence types.

Year 6 Maths - Fractions to Decimals (2)

Today, you will be focussing on fractions to decimals by using division. You will need to remember how to use short division (the bus stop method) which you used in lessons the other week. If you are finding it difficult, complete page 1 of the worksheet only. If you want the extra challenge, complete the Year 6 Maths challenge after you have completed the worksheet.

Year 5 Maths - Divide 3-digits by 1-digit

Today, you will be continuing your work with dividing numbers by dividing a 3-digit number by a 1-digit number. Watch the video below before you complete the worksheet. If you are finding it difficult, complete page 1 of the worksheet only. If you want the extra challenge, complete the Year 5 Maths challenge after you have completed the worksheet. 

Music

In this lesson, you are going to explore percussion by using everyday objects and your body. Have fun!

PE

In P.E this week, you will be doing a 'Joe Wicks' workout. Try and do this everyday if you can but make sure you do it at least twice. You can find different work-outs in the link below if you get bored of doing the same one. Good Luck and stay healthy!

Tuesday 19th January

English

Today you will be learning some spelling rules that will help you during this unit of journalistic writing. Watch the video in the link below, where each spelling rule will be explained and you will be given short tasks to complete. Take notes during the video, as this will help you to spell certain words throughout this unit. Good luck!

Today, you will use your packaging collage from last week to upscale a section from the image you created. Don't worry if you didn't complete last week's lesson, you can just google an image to upscale instead. Follow the steps on each slide to complete your masterpiece! Have fun!

You are going to be starting a new writing unit today - Journalistic Writing. This will be based on Spiderman, which we know lots of you love! Each day, there will be a different feature of journalistic writing to focus on so at the end of the unit when you write your final piece, you have all the key features needed to write an amazing piece of writing. As always, don't throw any of your work away, keep it so you can refer back to it in other lessons. We hope you enjoy this writing unit!

 

Year 5 and 6 Maths 

Your Maths work today is all on Google Classrooms. The daily video, worksheet and challenge will all be attached to your assignment. You all have your logins and passwords that we gave to you during the first week of home learning. Please make sure that you hand in your work so that we can check it and help give an explanation when you are stuck with a question.
