Continuing our topic of Dreams and Goals...

Today you are going to be thinking about what you want to be when you grow up.

Click here to listen to a story called When I Grow Up... What jobs are featured in the story? Do you know what jobs some of your family members do? Maybe they are a builder; work in an office; help people in a shop or maybe they stay at home and look after your house and family.

Have a think about what you would like to do when you grow up. What would you need to do now to help you get that job in the future? What things do you need to learn to help you achieve your dream job? Share your ideas with your family.

Understanding the World

In todays episode of Andy's Dino Toybox, Young Spinosaurus is on a quest to find out what it takes to be the fiercest and mightiest super predator of all time?

Handwriting

You can do this in a practical way or by writing on paper or on a chalk board or whiteboard. Can you write a word, caption or sentence about the picture? Use your sounds to help you write. Remember, the correct spelling of the words is not crucial; it’s about encouraging your child to have a go at spelling the words using their phonic knowledge.

Examples of what they could write (according to their ability):

  • dog / log
  • a dog / a log
  • dog on a log
  • The dog is on the log.
  • The dog is sitting on the log.

Alive in 5! - Week 1 - Session 3

Physical Development

Warm up by Doing the Dino!

Today we are going to continue thinking about jungle animals and today it's the turn of the lion! Imagine you are a lion prowling around the jungle. Lions move confidently and with pride, searching for their prey so practise moving slowly on all fours but with your head high like you're the king of the jungle!

If you are able to, ask an adult to help you set up a few pieces of equipment/ furniture that you can climb onto. It could be a bench, armchair, bed, toybox etc. Can you climb/prowl over the equipment like a lion? Can you climb sensibly and confidently?

We are going to play a game called Lie Down Lion. Ask an adult to play some music and whilst the music plays prowl around the jungle like a lion climbing up and over the equipment/furniture and moving around any smaller pieces of equipment. When the music stops, pose like a lion for 3seconds then lie down for a rest. Try and keep still when you are posing! Repeat a few times allowing the lion to have a go at using different equipment and lots of the floor space.

Cool down by joining in the Under the Sea yoga!

Understanding the World

In today's episode of Andy's Dino Toybox, baby brachiosaurus gets split up from the herd. Hylaeosaurus and stegosaurus show her their safety skills and help her find her family again.

Episode 13: The Lost Dinosaur
