  • Healthy Me Programme

    Mon 14 Dec 2020

Healthy Me! is a brand-new programme being offered to 3 lucky schools in Reading, and Manor Primary School is one of them!

Delivered by NHS staff on behalf of Reading Borough Council, this programme will build on all the good work already being done in Manor Primary and provide new ideas to support and improve the health of the children and their families. The programme will run throughout 2021, completing in December. During that time, the programme hopes to reach out to all groups in the school community so that everyone can be involved in the project. In term 3, after Christmas, questionnaires will be circulated to children and their parents/carers so that we can find out what we can do to make a difference. There will be lots of new initiatives and ideas which we hope you will enjoy participating in and if you have any ideas or topics about health which you think would benefit the children at Manor Primary school, please send them in to the Healthy Me! team via the school office.

The Healthy Me! programme team wish you all a very happy Christmas break and look forward to working with you in the new year.

  • Summer Programme

    Fri 17 Jul 2020

I just wanted to pass on the information that next week the Detached Youth Worker Team will be giving young people and families the opportunity to find out about what Brighter Futures For Children are offering in the Southcote area (and others).

Though they are limited by activities, due to social distancing measures, this will hopefully offer a much needed chance to re-engage young people in what could be on offer.

Please find attached poster displayed in all the community noticeboards in Southcote, which outlines the times and locations around Reading- If you have the opportunity to raise awareness through other channels, please do so

    Thank you,

    Joe

  • Tik Tok Controls

    Tue 14 Jul 2020

We would like to share some information that we have received from Reading Borough Council with our families:

Some children have innocently used Tik Tok from home but have in the process gained followers that they do not know, which poses obvious risks to their online safety.

In order to keep your child safe, please read the following online safety information from Vodafone https://www.vodafone.co.uk/mobile/digital-parenting/tiktok-controls which will help put safety controls in place to protect your child.  Please continue to keep an interest in whatever your child is accessing online in order to ensure your child's safety.  Tik Tok is recommended for children 13+.

  • Support for incident in Forbury Park, 20th June 2020

    Mon 22 Jun 2020

Please see below an email offering support from  Dr. Deborah Hunter, Head of SEND and Principal Child & Educational Psychologist at Reading Borough Council.

Reading is a close community, and we have all been affected by the shocking attack in Forbury Park on Saturday evening. Most of us will be able to manage our feelings of grief and shock, but we are aware that some children, young people, families and staff may be particularly affected and need some additional support and help.

As such, we have 3 levels of support:

    1. We have outlined some advice for parents and staff to support children and young people. This has been sent to schools, will be on the Local Offer, and sent to parents via FIS and RFF.
    2. Should you need further support please contact your school SENCO who can tell you what support is available for children and young people from their school or college.
    3. If you, your child or someone you know has been affected and needs further support and / or advice, we have set up a Helpline:

    0118 937 2080

This will be manned all day and until 8pm in the evening.
