Good morning Year 2, 

You have all made it to the end of the week and have completed your 3rd week of home learning now. Thank you to all the parents, who are working hard every day, to ensure your children are learning and for sharing what they have been doing. Have fun singing your hearts out today to the songs below! We hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Reading – Choose one of the activities about Gorillas. Use the links provided to help you.

 

Writing – Design your own personal coat of arms and write some sentences to describe and explain why you have designed it this way.

 

Maths – Complete the worksheet and answer as many questions as you can. The answers will be put onto the website tomorrow, so that you can self correct any mistakes.

Log into ‘Times Table Rock Stars’ and complete the questions which have been set for you. Your login details are in your Home-School Diary.

Nearly the end of the week. Thank you for sending us your Van Gogh masterpieces, they are all amazing and made us all smile yesterday! Well done for all your hard work so far this week and for trying all the learning as best you can. Please find your tasks for today below the scavenger hunt.

Reading – Find a different book by Anthony Browne and read it. You could always go onto You Tube to find books written by him and listen to it. Then draw a picture and write what happened in the story.

 

Writing –Read the adverts for the different jobs in the castle and write a diary as if you were one of these people.

 

Maths – Complete the worksheet and answer as many questions as you can. The answers will be put onto the website tomorrow, so that you can self correct any mistakes.

Your Van Gogh Sunflower Masterpieces!

Thank you for sending us photos of your castles and work from the last two days! We have added any photos we've been sent to the slideshow above so keep checking there to see what you have all been up to. We are looking forward to seeing your masterpieces of Vincent Van Gogh's Sunflowers and adding these to the slideshow too!

Reading – Follow the link and listen to Gorilla by Anthony Browne. After listening to the story, find 3 words from the story and use a dictionary or the internet to write their meaning. Challenge: Can you write some synonyms (a word that means exactly or nearly the same) for these words.

 

Writing – Write some sentences to describe what is happening in the picture. Use the words to help you.

Art – Recreate this famous sunflower painting by Vincent Van Gogh. You could use paint, colouring pencils, pens or crayons. You could even collage it. We would love to see what you create so please email us your masterpieces!

We hope you enjoyed getting back into your home learning yesterday. It was nice to have emails from some of you, who shared the ten things that make you happy. There were a lot of things on your lists that we all agree make us feel happy too! 

Keep working hard and remember to email us if you need anything or want to share what you have been up to.

Reading – Read a book and identify any known common exception words and high frequency words. Read the comprehension and then answer the questions. Once completed, please go through the answers and self correct any mistakes.

 

Writing – Write out the sentences into your green homework books and add the right conjunction (but or so) to make the sentences correct.

 

Maths – Complete questions 6 - 10 on the Maths Home Challenge sheet.

DT – Make a castle using Lego, building blocks or Duplo. If you don’t have any of these, you could be creative and use other items instead to make a castle. Have fun! Here are some examples.

You have probably heard about the BBC launching their own home learning programme, which will have daily lessons for different subjects. This is the link if you would like to have a look or access any of the lessons for extra learning BBC Home Learning Year 2

 

Reading – Read a book and identify any known common exception words and high frequency words. Read the comprehension and then answer the questions. Once completed, please go through the answers and self correct any mistakes.

 

Writing – Write out the sentences into your green homework books and add in the correct punctuation. At the bottom of each sheet there are stars, the more stars there are the more challenging the sentences will be. Once completed, please go through the answers and self correct any mistakes.
