Our Aims in Years 5 and 6

In years 5 and 6, our aim is to provide children with an environment that they feel a sense of belonging in. Children are taught that the classroom is a safe place, where mistakes are recognised as learning points, and expressing yourself is encouraged and respected. We encourage children to develop their independence, use their voice and become resilient learners. Positive relationships between children and adults in years 5 and 6 are important to us and we build these on trust, mutual respect and by having fun.

Meet Our Team

Mr S Lathia

I’ve enjoyed working at the school for the last 11 years. I started as a student teacher and have worked my way up to the Key Stage 2 Leader role. Children’s attitude confidence and work ethic is really important to me. My specialist areas are Sports, the Performing Arts and generally raising confidence in children. I teach the future generations that anything is possible if they just believe in themselves. I have a great relationship and a general love for the Southcote community that our school is set in. I am always happy to help where I can so let me know if there’s anything we can do for you or your child.

Miss R Thompson

I have been a teacher at Manor since 2012, after studying Psychology at Bournemouth University and completing a Graduate Teaching Programme. I became a teacher because I wanted to give children the opportunity to enjoy school as much as I did. Getting the opportunity to watch each child progress and grow is the highlight of each day.

Mrs Z Harris

I started volunteering in the Nursery in 2009 to gain a Teaching Assistant Level 3 NVQ. After achieving this, I then became a full time member of the school and have since worked in FS2, Goldfinch, Year 1 and Year 5. I recently qualified as a teacher in July 2020 with a BA Honours degree in Children’s Development at Reading University. I enjoy working with children to help them develop their confidence and creativity. In my spare time I love playing darts and spending time with my family. 

Miss K Stubbs

I started volunteering at Manor in 2017, soon after I became employed as a Lunchtime assistant, working in Nursery. In April 2018 a Teaching Assistant position became available and I was offered the role. During my time at Manor I have had the opportunity to work in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. I’ve really enjoyed supporting children in class to make sure they fulfil their full potential. In my spare time, I’m kept busy with my 3 children who have all attended Manor.
